...In which our heroine is inglorious.

Dear Quentin,

I'm not sure about this one. It could be totally kick-ass, but it seems like you're back to the Kill Bill mentality of "here is everything I over-stylize, all at once." I am encouraged by the presence of Brad, since he gave a tour-de-force in another film you wrote, as Floyd in my personal favorite, True Romance. The concept is cool, and I'm anxious to see how you do war. Also, props for casting Neil from Freaks & Geeks, but why does Eli Roth having a big role?

I really want this to redeem you Quentin. Sorry, but Death Proof  sucked. I hope you are able to mix your snappy dialogue, wonderfully out of place pop music, and acts of horrendous violence the way you used to - just thinking about the ear scene in Resevoir Dogs or Mia Wallace snorting heroin to "Girl, You'll Be  a Woman Soon" gives me the warm and fuzzies.

Love,
Kate

I enjoy the hell out of Kill Bill, but both halves of the film are - like so much of Tarantino's work - explorations / pastiches of the ticks and tricks that are used by the genre of film that he's watching at the time.

Kill Bill is a white guy making a chop socky movie.

Is it original? Not really...

Is it enjoyable? The first one was...

Is it derivative? Hellz yeah

But I will say that I absolutely love Brad Pitt doing an accent. It's a joy to hear because he seems to enjoy it so thoroughly and totally.
